Lung Cancer Kilts celebrates Women’s History Month!

March is Women’s History Month:

More women die of lung cancer than breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer combined as lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women. Although great strides have been made in preventing lung cancer (lung cancer screening and smoking cessation), these improvements have had less of an impact on diagnosis in women than men. This may partly be because women have more risk factors for lung cancer than men regardless of smoking status. Lung cancer in non-smokers occurs twice as often in women than men. Women between the ages of 30 and 49 are diagnosed with lung cancer at greater rates than men.

We must find the reason for this gender disparity and improve lung cancer outcomes for women!
